Family Law Partners launches Family Law Book Club on World Book Day

You are Here:

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Family Law Book Club, a new initiative bringing together family law practitioners and professionals across the sector to explore ideas, stories and perspectives through reading.

Launching on World Book Day, 5th March 2026, the Family Law Book Club creates a shared space for thoughtful discussion around books that deepen understanding of families, relationships, conflict, identity and change. Drawing on both fiction and non-fiction, contemporary and classic texts, the initiative aims to foster reflection, connection and dialogue across the family law community.

The launch aligns with the National Year of Reading 2026, a nationwide campaign led by the Department for Education in partnership with the National Literacy Trust to promote reading for pleasure and strengthen the nation’s reading culture.

Family law is shaped not only by legislation and case law, but by human experience. Stories, whether personal, fictional or historical offer unique insight into the emotional, social and cultural realities that underpin the work of family lawyers. The Family Law Book Club seeks to create space for those insights, encouraging practitioners to think differently, build empathy and engage more meaningfully with the people and issues at the heart of their work.

“Books have been a source of insight, empathy and perspective for me long before I became a family lawyer,” says Kate Elliott, Group Director at Family Law Partners. “They teach us to listen, to sit with complexity and to hold multiple truths at once. With the launch of the Family Law Book Club, we hope to bring that same richness into a shared professional space, creating thoughtful conversations around people, conflict, relationships and change. Giving our community a chance to reflect, connect and learn together.

The Family Law Book Club will run primarily across LinkedIn and Instagram. Each month, the initiative will feature:

  • A book recommendation shared by a family law practitioner or professional working within the family law space
  • Insight into why the book was chosen and its relevance to family law or wider cultural conversations
  • Opportunities for discussion and engagement through online comments and shared reflections

The Family Law Book Club aims to create a vibrant, inclusive forum for conversation across the sector and is open to anyone with an interest in family law and the themes that shape it. Practitioners, referrers and professionals across the sector are invited to read the monthly selection, share reflections and join the conversation online.

Participants will also be encouraged to nominate future titles and contribute recommendations, helping to shape the direction of the initiative and build a collaborative community.
