Divorce and Separation

Our family solicitors in London will support you if you are separating from your spouse or partner. Many people are surprised to find out that there are more options when it comes to divorce than they might think, and that the traditional court process is just one route. Our family law solicitors in London are mediators and collaborative lawyers as well as family lawyers, and can help you find a process that is right for your unique circumstances.

Financial Issues

Financial issues are one of the key concerns for anyone going through divorce and separation. Our team of specialist family law solicitors understand this and will help you achieve the best outcome for you and your family. Financial issues in divorce, and drafting financial settlements, can be complex, involving assets such as property, businesses and pensions, and so engaging a team of specialist family solicitors is the best way of ensuring that your financial interests are protected. Our team are experts in dispute resolution and can offer different approaches, such as mediation and collaborative law to help resolve your issue in the most cost-effective way, which may be achieved by avoiding going to Court. We also work with other experts, including independent financial advisors and pension experts.

Children

Our London family solicitors specialise only in family law, and know that for couples going through separation or divorce, that the needs of any children are the top priority.  Our team regularly support clients on all matters involving children, including where they live and who they see and when. We are also experienced in complex issues regarding children, including those relating to parental responsibility, parenting arrangements and removal from the jurisdiction.

Despite emotions often running high, many of our clients find that they are able to reach an amicable agreement on arrangements for their children as a result of being guided and supported by our team. This might mean working through the issue via a dispute resolution process such as family mediation, or through the collaborative process. If, however, an agreement cannot be made then we can also help you to make an application to the court for an order, including a Child Arrangement Order.

Living Together

Couples who choose to ‘cohabit’, and not enter into a marriage or civil partnership, have very different legal rights to those who do. Essentially, in the event that the relationship breaks down, cohabiting couples can find themselves in an uncertain position when it comes to things like property and money. Our team of specialist cohabitation solicitors in London can help you protect your interests through the creation of a cohabitation agreement, and can also advise you in the event that a dispute does occur- whether this relates to property, finances or even children.

Prenuptial agreements

Our team of family solicitors in London can help you put in place a prenuptial agreement to ensure your interests are protected if your marriage or civil partnership was to break down in the future. A prenuptial agreement is a bespoke document that is designed to meet your personal needs and objectives, and many of our clients find is reassuring to put one in place as it helps achieve more certainty and control over what might happen later on.

Postnuptial agreements

In its simplest form, a postnuptial agreement is a contract that is signed after a marriage, setting out what should happen in the event the marriage doesn’t work. Our specialist family law solicitors are experts at crafting bespoke postnuptial agreements that will work for you and your unique situation, in the event that your relationship breaks down.

Family Mediation

Family mediation is a form of dispute resolution that is becoming increasingly popular, as more and more people look for a non-confrontational (and often more cost-effective) way of resolving a family law dispute. Our team of family mediators in London are qualified mediators with Resolution, and can support you to reach an agreement on issues including property, finance and arrangements for children whilst avoiding potentially lengthy court-based negotiations.

Collaborative Law

Like family mediation, the collaborative law process is a form of alternative dispute resolution that our team of family solicitors offer. The collaborative process provides an opportunity for couples to work together with their respective collaborative lawyers to find solutions that enable them and their family to move forward in a positive way through divorce/dissolution or separation.
