Alan Larkin is our Director of Innovation & Technology, and a specialist in family law. He is a long standing member of Resolution (First for Family Law), Resolution Accredited Specialist (Preparing and Presenting cases in Court and Children Law) and Collaborative Lawyer.
A recognised expert in the field of family law, Chambers UK 2018 says Alan is a “highly esteemed collaborative lawyer with a notable track record in complex ancillary relief work”. He also advises on a broad range of private children law issues. “He was extremely understanding and sensitive,” notes a client.
Alan maintains Divorce Finance Toolkit – an external blog offering free resources to people who cannot easily afford family law help and has built a free online child maintenance calculator to assist parents, lawyers and mediators. Alan’s commitment to technological innovation led him to create an online conditional logic platform (effectively a virtual family lawyer) to prepare Family Law Partners’ clients for the all-important first consultation. This particular innovation was the inspiration for Engage, aiming to scale the platform for use by other family law teams.
Alan’s other projects include the development of AI applications for family lawyers in partnership with the University of Brighton and exploring data analytics on the IBM Watson platform to give our clients insights on the cost-effectiveness of the various dispute resolution models we offer. Outside of work he enjoys time with his family, independent cinema, cycling to work in the rain, and planning further innovation in family law.
