Head of Innovation & Technology/Solicitor & Collaborative Lawyer

Alan Larkin is our Director of Innovation & Technology, and a specialist in family law. He is a long standing member of Resolution (First for Family Law), Resolution Accredited Specialist (Preparing and Presenting cases in Court and Children Law) and Collaborative Lawyer.

A recognised expert in the field of family law, Chambers UK 2017 says Alan “ impresses across the board with his handling of complex and high-value ancillary relief work. Sources report: “He has a calm demeanour, is technically strong and has a drive to resolve matters in an effective and economic manner.”

Alan specialises in finances following a relationship breakdown, whether by separation, divorce, or dissolution of civil partnership including Inheritance Act matters.

Before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1997 Alan worked with the Merseyside Probation Service and was the Manager of the Toxteth Victims’ Support Scheme between 1983 and 1987. He qualified as a solicitor in 1997 joining a Legal 100 firm in the South East and becoming a partner there in 2004, later becoming acting head of the family team.

Alan maintains Divorce Finance Toolkit – an external blog offering free resources to people who cannot easily afford family law help and has built a free online child maintenance calculator to assist parents, lawyers and mediators. Alan’s commitment to technological innovation in family law led him to create an online conditional logic system called Siaro for the use of Family Law Partners’ clients.   This particular innovation will be piloted nationally by other family law teams during 2016.

Outside of work he enjoys time with his family, independent cinema, cycling to work in the rain, and planning further innovation in family law.
