Solicitor, Mediator & Collaborative Lawyer
Julian qualified as a solicitor over thirty years ago and has since become a qualified Collaborative Lawyer and Family Mediator. He has practised in the Guildford and Surrey area since the mid-80s, and was one of the earliest members of Resolution.
With a particular interest in and focus upon alternatives to court in family disputes Julian believes it is far better to put time and effort into finding solutions at the earliest opportunity; and that effort is always rewarded by a smaller legal bill, a less traumatic experience, and the retention of good long-term understandings between separated couples who generally still have children, friends or family connections in common.
Julian has practised with several Guildford firms over the years before running his own niche practice, Delano McEvoy between 1996 and 2010. From 2010 to 2016 he worked with a local Guildford firm in their family department.
Julian has been a committee member with Surrey Resolution for more than fifteen years, and for the last six years has been Chair of the group. He firmly believes that fostering a collegiate atmosphere amongst family lawyers in Surrey and beyond helps to bring the whole profession together, and collectively to seek better outcomes for clients.
Outside of work Julian has many interests, including singing with local choirs, fine wine, cooking and enjoying food from all around the world; languages, history, and gardening. He also enjoys most sport, particularly cricket and going to watch Southampton play along with his two sons.
