The Times Best Law Firms 2022

In the same year that Family Law Partners has celebrated its 10th anniversary, the award-winning team has been included for the first time in The Times Best Law Firms 2022.

The Times Best Law Firms survey recognises the most highly regarded law firms as recommended by legal professionals. The report is compiled in cooperation with specialist business researchers Statista, and lists the top 200 legal practices in England and Wales, and Scotland’s top 40. The list is peer-selected, with survey respondents asked to recommend the best law firms across various categories, including family work.

News of The Times recognition follows a successful year of legal directory rankings for Family Law Partners. The firm’s Brighton and Horsham teams secured a Band 1 ranking in Chambers UK in their respective locations, with leading individual status for Directors Robert Williams, Kate Elliott and Gemma Hope. Kate Elliott, who heads up the firm’s Horsham team – which moved to new, expanded premises in October this year – was also recognised in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide.

Additionally, the firm has a Tier 1 ranking in the Legal 500 UK, with leading expert mentions for Directors Robert Williams, Gemma Hope, Kate Elliott, Lisa Burton-Durham, Mark Harrop, Farhana Shahzady, Senior Associate Chris Maulkin and Consultants Hazel Manktelow and Louise Buttery.

Mark Harrop, Farhana Shahzady (both London-based Directors), Kate Elliott (Horsham) and Sarah Jelly (Consultant) are also all ranked as leading mediators in the 2022 edition of the Legal 500 UK.

2021 has been a year of further growth for the firm, with the arrival of new experts in Brighton, Horsham and London. The team will be joined by a new Director in London in December, together with a new Sussex-based Consultant.

In October we were winners of the Business Impact Award at the Innovate UK KTP Awards 2021 for our innovation partnership with Brighton University.

At the time of writing the team is also awaiting the outcome of the Family Law Awards 2021, where the team is a finalist in the Family Firm of the year (South) and Dispute Resolution Team of the Year categories.

Robert Williams and Alan Larkin, Founding Directors of Family Law Partners said:

We’re thrilled that our focus on dispute resolution and commitment to working collaboratively to resolve matters outside the court process, minimising the emotional and financial cost for our clients and their families, has been recognised in The Times prestigious list of law firms. We believe this, coupled with the expertise of our lawyers and our drive to further support clients holistically with a network of other experts (headed up by our new Director of Client Wellbeing) stands us apart from the crowd.

It means a great deal to our team to be recognised externally by The Times, Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500 this year, and also helps us open up new conversations and secure different opportunities as we continue to grow and develop”.
