Something for the Week End – Friday 21st February 2014

You are Here:

It has been another varied week for all at FLP Towers, here’s what’s been happening: –

Linda: Four delightful new clients this week who all managed to battle into the office despite the weather. Taking and drafting two witness statements, really grateful for their help, and another court document in preparation for a two day hearing next month, Lawyers Who Mediate meeting to discuss the in court mediation trial that is ongoing, number of telephone appointments but still managed egg and chips at lunch time on Monday and still living in my caravan as the work on my house proceeds.

Lisa: My week has been dominated by collaborative law meetings one of which culminated in the couple reaching an agreement about their finances and their future plans meaning they can both move forward with their lives. This particular case was resolved after just three four way meetings and at considerable less cost than if the matter had been litigated through long and expensive court proceedings.

Robert: Really looking forward to seeking what comes of next week’s Law Commission’s proposals for Pre-Nuptial Agreements. I’ve just dealt with one collaboratively and there was something really satisfying about the clients’ feedback about how the process had really got them both thinking and talking together about what they wanted and how to plan in a positive way for their future. Happy smiling clients is what we want.

Alan: I’ve been running the rule over an old Will and considering with my client, since you ask, the potential claims arising: lack of capacity or coercion, claims under the Inheritance Act, or a doctrine called proprietary estoppel. You’re probably sorry you asked.

Chris: This week I have seen several new clients to help them on issues relating to contact with their children and financial matters as well as helping another client draft their witness statement. Finally, I am now told by my pregnant Wife that our baby is now the size of a hand!

Until next week!

Lucy
